The Annual Met Costume Gala: Punk ~ Chaos to Couture (Photo Source)
Unlike last year, I made it out of work in time to see all the stars arrive on the luscious red carpet for Anna Wintour's annual costume gala! I must say it was quite amazing seeing so many people you watch in movies, sing their songs or covet their designs all in one place. I found a perfect spot giving me the best view to see all the celebs as they arrived to the Met and were helped out of there cars. Sadly it was short lived, one of the cops said to me "Miss get off the scaffolding" lol! But I still had a great view for seeing everyone, not so much for pics...should have worn heels. While some stars waved, smiled and posed for pics for us onlookers; not all were as friendly. People you thought would be divas weren't and others that should be grateful for their invite definitely let it go to their head! Like for one Jessica Biel refused to turn around & she wasn't even with JT...so get over yourself! Taylor Swift was rude as well, not that I'm surprised. Unlike those two as soon as SJP (Sarah Jessica Parker) got out the car she smiled and waved at all of us giving us time to take pics. Others that did the same were Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow, Uma Thurman, etc! It was a great night! Definitely a moment I will remember!

This weekend I went to the Met with my roomie. I've been wanting to see "Faking It" a photography exhibit that shows different images throughout history that were manipulated before photoshop was created. In high school & college I took film photography classes. I've always been enticed by the idea of capturing memories. That particular exhibit did not allow pictures so here are some of the other pieces of art that caught me eye.
Immediately I thought…I'd wear that!
Rainbow :)
Love the vibrant colors plus it includes what I did that day. Grocery shopping, housework & a visit to Sephora.
I said to my roommate, 'Omg, that looks like me!' She said "I know exactly which 1 you're talking about!" Top row, center with the white background, lol.
We look cray
You have to see it close up to really get how amazing this piece is! Its made completely out of circles and took up an entire wall. So impressed!
I finally got myself over to the Met to see the much awaited exhibit the stars were able to see at the Gala. Luck was on my side, no line thanks to the Puerto Rican Day Parade (precisely my plan) I got a little lost and asked about 4 employees which way for Prada, lol. This was my second time going to see the costume gala exhibit; my first being the forever loved, McQueen. That being said if you saw the last one you know how spoiled we were, not that Prada wasn't great, it just wasn't as elaborate as McQueen. Even the size of the showroom was a great deal smaller. But I will say that is my one and only complaint. I just wanted more… Seeing fashion made through the years and actually getting glimpses of what the designers were thinking and their process is amazing…better yet inspiring! Whether or not fashion is what peak your interest, what's fascinating to me is the dedication and the detail. If anyone put that much into anything how couldn't you be something, in whatever you do. If you're in town make sure you stop by the Met and see the glorious "Impossible Conversations" by Schiaperilli & Prada. No pictures are allowed, I took one at the entry and was quickly scolded, lol.

Once again I missed seeing all the stars arrive at the Met Gala :( I have no excuse since I literally can walk to the Met in about 10mins. Seeing the recaps there were some incredible creations, gorgeous silhouettes and of course some hot mess/what we're you thinking ensembles... Right now I'm living for the color yellow, which is pretty obvious by my yellow leather jacket I'm wearing in my blog picture. Most people move to New York and start wearing all black, I went the opposite. I love these designs with lace and intricate beading, most aren't wearable for us normal people. Doesn't stop me from admiring it. See styles below! Some will have you in awe and others will give you that good laugh to break up the work day, lol.
