Desigual is always the cheeriest of the bunch at
New York Fashion Weekend. They kicked off their show on the first day
(Thursday, Feb 11th). The collection was filled with fun colorful jackets and
funky patterns. You can always count on Desigual to keep the fun and flirty
vibes of spring and summer to last us through the harsh days of winter with
their designs. Why be boring when you can be bold with color?
More about the collection:
DESIGUAL’s Fall 2016 collection
reflected on the international metropolises where personal expression can be
created and demonstrated through many diverse styles. Throughout history cities
have been a meeting place for people of different cultures to come to share and
experience their own stories.
The brand looks to the vibrancy of
city life and all of its creative lifeblood for its Autumn/Winter 2016
collection. The collection’s aesthetic is a metaphor for the 21st century,
visualized as a textured collage, where technology, trends and a global culture
now are one. The essence of DESIGUAL imparts that every day is an opportunity
to express yourself and wear your attitude to face the world.
Fashion has
become an ambassador, the visual clue to our collective conscious. And with
this season’s collection DESIGUAL celebrates the women whose style makes the
city streets so vibrant.

DESIGUAL never disappoints showing offs its
fun, flirty and funky attire down the catwalk each season. There's something
for every girl in the collection from pieces to dress up or be dressed down and
from bright to neutrals. The new fun flair to the runway experience was the
"head gear" like the mohawks and turban hats that were embellished.
DESIGUAL prides themselves as being 'designed for many types of women with
their lust for life, eye for beauty, and passion for self-expression' and I
couldn't agree more.
More about the collection:
The brand collaborated with stylist Misha Janette,
who used her eclectic style to showcase the daring, fearless, and irreverent
woman according to DESIGUAL. Lauro Samblas’, an artist from Barcelona,
used colorful pop-inspired collages tapping into his boundless creative
freedom to create the backdrop for the collection.
Cosmopolitan and cool, the collection featured
layered looks, unusual combinations and left an urban, sophisticated and bold
mark: Shirts worn as skirts, hand painted brush stroke prints on oversize
blouses, jumpers worn as turbans, A-line midi-skirts with patchwork embroidery,
jackets that combine denim, military fabric and embroidery, palazzo pants and
ankle grazers, embellished jeans with delicate embroidery and long shirts worn
as evening dresses.
As always the Desigual show embodied cheer, fun and happiness as each model strut their stuff down the runway. The collection was full of bright colors and funky patterns making the colder days of winter more of an afterthought. You might recognize Chantelle Winnie from Top Model, now she's the brand ambassador for Desigual. A perfect choice for inspiring people to love their imperfections and to grow to appreciate them as something that makes you uniquely beautiful!
Fall 2015 was inspired by the creative process of putting a collection together and is a tribute to what happens in the design atelier. Abstract paintings, photographs of Africa, a voyage to northern Europe and a landscape full of flowers are the root of the design inspiration: One that is full of creativity and originality.
The collection featured geometric motifs in black and white, multi-colored cardigans with a Scandinavian feel and structured dresses dipped in watercolors. Along with floral skirts in printed tulle make up the line alongside cocoon coats in true Lacroix style. The result is an eclectic and sophisticated mix that's sure to catch the eye of women everywhere. Per usual, I've made a few collages of my top picks from the show and included my Instagram pic from the close.
You can't help but smile during Desigual collections, the clothes are always so cheery! To continue that same aesthetic Desigual and designer Monsieur Christian Lacroix presented their new Spring/Summer 2015 collection 'In Bloom'. It was a definite compliment to the warmer temps and summer vacays and if that wasn't enough supermodel Adriana Lima kick started the show!
More about the collection:
The collection was inspired by nature’s flora and fauna, this season presented a colorful, multi-cultural bouquet. A cool Mediterranean spirit was combined with South American motifs; classic English garden blooms met the Iberian Peninsula’s landscape; and a western countryside was influenced by sweeping European geometry.
Desigual is getting back to basics with a personal collection that reflects the enduring optimism found in Barcelona. Their efforts paid off, this was literally the happiest fashion I've ever been to. The music mix made you dance in your seat, the models were cheery and pranced down the runway, and the fall line itself was bright and flirty. The collection was filled with form fitting jersey mini dresses, flowing maxi dresses graced with 70’s style inspiration, metallic festive wear and chic black & white graphic coats, debuted at New York’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center for New York fashion week. Violet, navy, hunter green, burgundy, tawny were draped and tailored into minimalist simplicity radiating positivity in sumptuous jacquard, tulle and wool. So many pieces to bright any girl's day.
