Are you ready for the exclusive…

Another spectacular game changing Design Disrupted event put on by Lexus for MADE fashion week featuring British fashion designer, Gareth Pugh. This time instead of having one performance there were three. It was setup up as three separate areas in the massive Basketball City arena. Each setting utilized gigantic screens displaying different artistic dance sequence that were a delight for the eyes. After one would end the next location would start. The 2nd and 3rd performances included not only film installations on screen but also live dancers performed. The night left me thinking how amazing a concept it was and the all the time and effort it must have been to create it. Gareth Pugh should be very proud of his work and I can't wait to see what else he will do in his career.

From sequence #2

“At Lexus we’re constantly pushing the boundaries of design, performance and technology, and we strive to work with innovative people, like Gareth Pugh, who take similar creative risks,” says Brian Bolain, Lexus corporate marketing communications manager. “This year’s Lexus Design Disrupted defies convention and invites guests to experience both brands in an unexpected way.”

"This is an opportunity to elevate my work and present it in a more innovative and meaningful way," says Pugh, who is premiering a collection in New York for the first time. "I hope to explore a new visual language — something that transcends the nature of a traditional fashion show — where images penetrate and the audience have a deeper understanding of the story I want to tell."

Unfortunately my phone was low on battery and space so I wasn't able to capture a snippet from the last sequence, but I hope you enjoy these short glimpses into the first two performances.

Lexus got into the fun of New York Fashion Week by throwing an event with an entirely new concept. Joe Zee was the host for the evening's festivities, while Coco Rocha performed the concept from mastermind Giles Deacon as a dancer on stage. I was able to capture some amazing photos (see below) from the performance along with some of the celebs in attendance! To celebrate Lexus' launch of its all-new 2014 IS performance sedan, the aptly named the event, “Lexus Design Disrupted,” represented a creative concept inspired by the IS using the brand’s commitment to design and technology. I can describe the show in one word…amazing! I've never seen anything like that, it was hard to see the difference between the dancers & the holograms at times. I had no idea that Coco Rocha was a dancer! She was incredible, just like the rest of the night! I even met SJP, honestly couldn't have been better!
