FASHION WEEK: Ren Chunmei SPRING SUMMER 27 PARIS HAUTE COUTURE

Only one show this season for me...however if only one what a blessing it was to attend Ren Chunmei's Défilé de Mode à Paris 🥹 Inspired by Tang Splendor, Journey Through Dreams, which was truly an apt description of what the collection represented.

Rooted in Tang culture, TANG HUA DE MENG transforms peonies, pavilions, war drums and phoenix motifs through traditional silhouettes, modern destruction and layered craftsmanship creating contemporary Chinese couture with sculptural presence.

The show began with a robot to all of our surprise! They even did a little performance and was adorned for the occasion. It was as if we began in the future followed by dreams of the past with intricate designs, sculptures from Chinese history, art and creative adaptions. A sculptural couture installation centered on the phoenix. Gradient wings move from blazing red and gold to contemplative midnight blue.

A golden dragon, peonies and feminine faces become wearable sculptures, reshaping the dramatic tension of Tang culture between delicate blush tones and sharp forms.

Peony is the flower of imperial grace.

A sculptural gown inspired by the architecture of the high Tang. The shoulders unfold like upturned caves, while a complete pavilion rises at the center of the body.

An imperial ode in mist - In mist all passages return to silence.

A short golden dress blooms with 2 monumental sculpted peonies at the waist and arm. Layered petals, tonal cloud embroidery and cascading fringe evoke the splendor of the Tang.

An architectural reconstruction of the Tang shoulder drape. Monumental folded panels echo the weight of palace halls, while one exposed shoulder softens its solemn solitude.

Translucent butterflies in graduated scales drift across the garment. The butterflies are a symbol of renewal and transformation, carrying the silhouette gracefully through time.

Architectural gilded forms flow across the bodice in layered 3 dimensional structures. Phoenix wings and palace scroll motifs reconstructed in openwork, unfolding like an egres gliding through fragrant mist.
