Are you ready for the exclusive…

Yesterday, I went to the adorable Haven's Kitchen to watch Chef Hugh Acheson partner with Captain Morgan to make new summer inspired dishes and cocktails. Who doesn't enjoy a tasty rum cocktails paired with equally delicious bites. Some of you may already be familiar with Chef Hugh Acheson through my previous post for Thanksgiving dishes here or from he's appearances as a judge on Top Chef! Hugh's passion is making southern food with a twist, being a Canadian native he finds the cuisine of the southern awe-inspiring. During this round table demo at Haven's Kitchen we were able to sample two food items and two cocktails from the dynamic duo Hugh & Captain Morgan Rum. I must say each concoction and recipe was delightful, but I guess if I had to choose….it would be the skirt steak sandwich because I love a good sandwich with perfectly cooked meat and the Mint Mutiny cocktail, it was light and refreshing and I enjoy smelling fresh mint with each sip.

Each of the options are perfect for this summer's upcoming gatherings with friends and family because fun, food and cocktails go hand in hand for summer! Check out the recipes below to start making them in your home!

Last week I went to hang out with Captain Morgan and celebrity chef Hugh Acheson to support WhyHunger. An amazing charity encouraging movement to end hunger and poverty by connecting people to nutritious, affordable food and by supporting grassroots solutions that inspire self-reliance and community empowerment. Captain Morgan & chef Hugh Acheson have teamed up to bring awareness to the WhyHunger cause and to inspire holiday dishes and cocktails. Hugh is encouraging consumers 21+ to share their recipes and entertaining tips utilizing the hashtag #CaptainsTable. Every time the hashtag is used throughout the holiday season, the brand will donate $1 to the charity! I had a brief chat with Hugh asking him what his favorite dish for Thanksgiving, no surprise, like most its stuffing. He likes to make his with lots of leeks and sage and perfectly toasted bread.

Let me start by saying….Captain Morgan is more than a drink, he was a real pirate trying to conquer the world! Of course his story is fanscinating and has become the inspiration behind the Captain Morgan brand. So naturally they partnered with the Sundance Channel to create The Unsinkable Henry Morgan a 30 min documentary by the award winning director Michael Haussman. Check out the preview below! I must say I enjoyed the screening and the perfectly paired cocktails with maple bacon popcorn! Don't forget it airs Jan 20th on the Sundance Channel.

Cocktails with the big block ice (I never want a mixed drink without them, lol)
